Growing up I feel like we always had to choose, have a preference, have a stronger one. I chose Geography at school and Economics at University. I loved social sciences as I saw the power of combining science and art, theory and practice, logic and intuition.
Technically, I was far from the best economist at work, in awe of the beautiful minds of peers, who remembered formulas and which theorist said what. With this comparison I always felt less than, and put my promotions and professional opportunities down to some kind of fluke.
As I moved into leadership, I realised that combining logic and intuition was my superpower. Knowing your numbers, measuring your metrics, and analysing market trends are all essential to leading a successful business. And so is reading the mood of your team, seeing behind the façade to the real needs of your clients, and listening to your gut on key decisions.
How would your leadership benefit from combining your logic and intuition more effectively? How would that increase your income, influence and impact on the world?
